Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something... unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is. -Goodreads

Yes, I have been living under a huuuuuuge rock all his time. Please excuse me while I quietly die of shame under said rock.
But in all seriousness, I hear the Lux series all the time. It's like knowing someone whom you've never talked to before. However, I have my own reason for not reading the Lux series. You may not like it, but hear me out.
If there's a genre of books that I mostly avoid, it's sci-fi books. Sci-fi is not my cup of tea. We have a unspoken agreement to stay away from each other. Most of the time I find sci-fi to be tedious and uninteresting if it is not well-written, which will end up with me hating the book and giving it a poor rating on Goodreads. However I do love the Lorien Legacies series -book 5 is going to be released soon!- and although I might not like sci-fi that much I still read it.
It's okay if you're angry at me. I can't imagine someone not reading Harry Potter/Percy Jackson either.
Part of me is still scarred from reading The Fifth Wave. I'm in the tiny 5% of people that did not enjoy The Fifth Wave which is a reminder that sci-fi and I do not go well together.
My initial response to seeing Obsidian:
"Oh. Aliens. Huh." *carefully and gently places this book at the back of my mind*
I'll let you know that I am an easily impressionable person when it comes to choosing books. My decision is swayed easily -which is not good for my wallet.
I have been avoiding Obsidian for a long time for fear of not liking it but somehow, it has always managed to worm its way back into my TBR list. I am also a sucker for hot romance books, and, sci-fi aside, this book seems to have a bucketload of it.
However, just when I have finally cleared any negative thoughts about this book and marched determinedly into the bookstore with my mind set on buying Obsidian... THEY DIDN'T HAVE IT. Just...nothing. Nada.
So hopefully I will manage to obtain a copy of Obsidian (soon?). I know I am pretty excited to read it. I also know that my excitement is fueled by the knowledge that Opposition, book 5 in the Lux series, is going to be in stores soon. REALLY SOON. I HAVE TO READ THE FIRST BOOK NOW.
