We've all thought about how we want our houses to look like in the future -how we want to furnish and decorate it, bookish style! A bookish home for a booknerd is the way to go. I've done a lot of daydreaming on my future bookish house. Some of them are quite realistic but others, not so much. They do require a lot of time and effort, not to mention money. (Because let's face it, we'd rather spend money on books!) Less of a discussion and more of a "hey let's talk about totally random things!" post, today I'm sharing with you my plans for the ideal bookish home! 1. Lots and lots of empty rooms...both huge and small. There's nothing I can do better than going, "OooOhh!" at a bookstore and loading my already full basket with more books. That's when these empty, vast rooms come in handy. Remember the oh-so-beautiful library in Beauty and the Beast? I can already imagine room after room of books in my head. *drools* Let's see...one will certainly be colour-coordinated. 2. Outdoor reading rooms I took a walk around my neighbourhood just this morning (which is not something I do often, by the way), found a house that had this patio/exterior room built outside with glass walls, and fell crazy in love with the idea of having a reading room in the garden. I love being outside while reading! Not too sure about open rooms or walls being all-glass though. I need a place where I can read quietly without much disturbance, although the point about a garden room is to be closer to nature. The pictures do look nice! 3. Bookshelf Doors When I watched a spy movie back when I was really small, I decided there and then that I will have a bookcase door at soome point in my life. Bookcase doors have been popping out all over the internet lately and I think it's a truly creative and useful idea for non-bibliophiles and booklovers alike. Just recently, I watched a video on Youtube on how to build a secret bookcase door. Her steps and ideas are pretty easy and resourceful for a normal person. But if I were the one building it, the bookcase would have real books on it instead of fake ones and the room wouldn't be secret. I plan on putting TBR books on the shelves of these non-existent (YET!) bookcase doors and take one down to read whenever I feel like it! That way, TBR books can be read even sooner. The secret passage bookshelves featured in this article fascinates me too! Imagine reading in a room where you won't be interrupted! 4. Floating Bookshelves! Time for some economical ideas. I'm fairly sure you've heard of the floating bookshelf, or even have one yourself! A floating bookshelf is a small shelf that you can mount to the wall, and when books are placed on it -voila! It becomes invisible, making the books look like they are floating in the air by themselves. Fixing a couple of them around the house would definitely add to that bookish look. 5. Bookmark cabinet I once spoke about the significance of bookmarks and my love for them . A bookmark cabinet may sound a bit weird (and it is), but I've been daydreaming about it for a while. The visual design looks a bit like a key storage cabinet, 'cept that my version is going to take up half of a wall (or at least I think so). There will be hooks to dangle the hang tag bookmarks on, small boxes below to store precious ones, and wide glass doors protecting my soon-to-be-huge bookmark collection! 6. Bookish signature wall! Since the signature wall in my bedroom never turned out the way I wanted, the thought of having a bookish signature wall in my future home excites me. There are so many ideas I could use to decorate this wall! For example, framed pictures of favourite quotes could go up on that wall. Or book/movie posters. A huge bookish illustration would be nice too!

Kat is a voracious reader who enjoys nothing more than losing herself in a good book. Fantasy is definitely her cup of tea. She often complains about never having enough time to read and constantly struggles with keeping her TBR pile a considerably decent size. Read more or keep up with her bookish whims on Goodreads or bloglovin.
