Devastated, Rosie decides to trace her real mother, hitching along on her ex-boyfriend’s GAP year to follow her to Los Angeles. But all does not go to plan, and as Rosie discovers yet more of her family's deeply-buried secrets and lies, she is left with an agonising decision of her own - one which will be the most heart-breaking and far-reaching of all...
Where to begin? Well first, Rosie had to give up travelling the world with her boyfriend, Andy. (For some reason, he was pictured as Andy -y'know? From Toy Story?- while I was reading the book. Don't ask me. Idek.)
I'm not sure what to make of Holly. Her actions were pretty bitchy towards Rosie, but then again Rosie did totally ruin her life. Are you confused? Head spinning in circles? Let me clear that up without spoiling you too much: Basically, Holly is the person whose life Rosie is going to wreck the most. There are yelling scenes that will make you cringe, and everywhere you turn, bad things will pop up just when you thought it couldn't get any worse.
The ultimate lesson from Someone Else's Life: (SPOILER ALERT) Nurses, do NOT swap babies at birth without telling anyone, even if you think it would be a great idea. Especially if it's your best friend's baby. It might snowball into a huge disaster for everyone and you might want to avoid that.
