REVIEW POLICY
I'm currently accepting review copies of all genres of young adult novels and only selective genres of new adult. My most preferred genres are fantasy and dystopia while I usually keep away from horror. I also find myself in the mood for a good contemporary read from time to time, chiefly when I am in the search for a comfort read that I know I will probably love. My hugest turn-off when it comes to fiction is the lack of character development or cardboard characters. Characters that are only there for the plot leads to a rating of 2-3 stars. Please note that I do not review biographies and non-fiction.
All of my reviews are written in my honest opinion and I do not write positive reviews in the hope of appeasing the author or anyone else. Reviewing your book is a great honor, but I will be brutally honest if I have to! Providing me with an ARC or review copy does not guarantee a positive review, nor does sending me a review request ensure a review. If I do not get back to you in two weeks, please assume that I may not be interested.
ARCs in eBook format and print copies are accepted. Print copies are slightly more preferred as it does give me a better approach to the book while enabling me to finish reading faster. However, please be mindful of the fact that you'll have to ship internationally. While I do give you my word that I will give my best to reading and reviewing your book, there's still real life to attend to, so please be patient and I will get to your book in due course! There are times when I will be really busy with school and other activities, and so I apologise in advance if I take too long to post a review.
This rarely, rarely happens, but here's the thing: when I am halfway through a book and yet, the story doesn't feel appealing at all, I may DNF (did not finish) it. It's not a thing that I'm happy to do to a book or reviewing, but on the rare occasion when it does happen, well...I'm sorry that your book didn't manage to draw me in. However, I will still write a short review (or a long one, it depends) explaining why I could not finish your book.
For any review requests or blog tours, authors, publishers and publicists can contact me through email, perusingbookshelves (at) gmail (dot) com, or tweet me at my Twitter, @perusebkshelves! To have a better idea of my book preferences, view my shelves at my Goodreads account, katerrific27. (Go on!) My reviews are posted on Goodreads, Perusing Bookshelves, and other social platforms if otherwise stated.
Feel like submitting a review request form instead? You can fill it in here and please, make sure that all required fields are filled in correctly. You may want to double check or triple check before submitting!
So that's it! Email or tweet me if you have any questions or review requests, or have a look around at my blog!
