I finished reading the book in two days. Which may not sound like much to you, but I couldn't get much reading done on the first day I started this book as I was travelling. On the second day, all rested and ready to get my read on, I decided to read this book in a few sittings, which...didn't work out at all. I sat down, started reading from where I left off, and didn't resurface from my book until I finished. I certainly didn't expect to read the entire book in just one sitting. That was Richelle Mead, forcing me to continue with her compelling story and ever-so-wonderful characters.
What I particularly love about Silver Shadows is the action. The entire story was chock-full of it but Richelle Mead writes in a way that engages the reader without making it all too confusing. I mean, sure, at one point I had to stop myself -my eyes were zooming all over the pages- and re-read a few key points but that was because the story was so gripping to the point where I just wanted to keep reading and be like, NEVER MIND WHAT I MISSED 'CAUSE I HAVE TO KEEP UP!!
Literally me
As always, Mead makes her wondeful characters easy to love. She kept me laughing page after page with funny dialogues and foolish scenes. My fangirl heart had sort of forgotten about Sydrian (Sydney and Adrian) but I was reminded of my fondness for them on the very first page. What I love about her books are the relationship between the characters because you can feel the strong bond between them. Richelle always -and I mean always- makes the characters and their relationship with each other feel special in a way that few books have.
And if you have not read Silver Shadows yet, you'll be in for a great surprise! *cough* PLOT TWIST *cough* But don't worry, readers will truly enjoy this particular one. I was very surprised -VERY- at first, but I should've known better from reading Vampire Academy that Richelle wouldn't have missed a chance to put something big and crazy in her story that we'd absolutely love!
One thing I noticed and kept me from giving 5 stars for this book was that the dual narratives both sounded very similar. It was hard to tell Sydney and Adrian apart except for what was going on around them. The indistinct narratives really bothered me for a few chapters but eh, it was easily dismissed once chaos took over the pages.
