Exhibit 1: Most Anticipated Releases
Sorry for you 5th Wave lovers. I'm about to get lobbed with hardcover copies of The Infinite Sea within seconds, but The Fifth Wave wasn't just that enjoyable for me. However, I think it was just a case of 'it's the book, it's me'. The 5th Wave was every bit as action-packed and amazing as glowing reviews stated, but all throughout the book I was yawning and waiting for something to really excite me. I even found myself disagreeing with most of the character's decisions. All the while it just felt like watching the events unfold through a glass door. If not for the endless excitement over The Infinite Sea on book blogs and other social bookish platforms, I might not even have picked it up. But I'm willing to give this series another try. The hype over this book has to mean that the series is worth something!
(As for Heir of Fire, I'm not even started on Throne of Glass yet. However, I've already saved to read the series for the holidays so I'll be reading it soon! Yay!)
Exhibit 2: Contemporary Fiction (AKA THE GAYLE FORMAN EXHIBIT)
Reading If I Stay was like getting my heart all trampled over and stitched back into my body again. It really changed my perception about death in so many ways. Truth to be told, I was waiting for a story that would touch me the way 13 Reasons Why did, and If I Stay was THE book. It goes without saying that I absolutely can't wait to start Where She Went!
